In the heart of the Commonwealth of Nations

During the week of September 2nd to 6th, 2024, a few students from the 12th grade, along with Mrs. Michalek and Mr. Schmidt, went on an exciting trip to London. On Monday, we started our journey at 8:30 AM, taking different trains through Kassel, Frankfurt, and Cologne to Brussels, and from there, we took the Eurostar to London. We arrived around 8:30 PM, where our host families welcomed us, and we went to bed directly.

The second day began with a three-hour hop-on-hop-off bus tour around London. With beautiful weather, we visited famous sights like Buckingham Palace and Tower Bridge. In the afternoon, we explored different museums, the Borough Market, and Chinatown in small groups. In the evening, we met for a group photo in front of the Houses of Parliament and then returned to our host families in Norbury.

On the third day, we went on a short but interesting boat tour on the Thames. Afterwards, we spent the afternoon exploring the city on our own going places like Chelsea, Camden, or even the Warner Bros Studios. Another group photo at the Thames finished the day.

On the fourth day, we visited Brighton, where we toured the city and the beach. For lunch, we all ate together at a beach restaurant and chatted about many things. Unfortunately, bad weather forced us to change our plans. Otherwise, we might have been washed away! Some went to the cinema to watch “It Ends with Us”, while others spent the rest of the day shopping.

On the last day, we made it back to Germany safely, despite some train cancellations. The study trip gave us many exciting experiences and will remain a great memory for everyone.
